New DIVA report: IBD and Pregnancy - Addressing Unmet Needs in Women’s Health

We are proud to present a new DIVA article exploring Inflammatory Bowel Disease and pregnancy. For women with IBD (including Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis) decisions about starting a family are often shaped by fear rather than facts. Evidence shows that with disease remission and appropriate treatment, pregnancy outcomes are comparable to the general population.

Specialised preconception counselling and multidisciplinary care (gastroenterologists, obstetricians, nurses, and psychologists) can address both medical and emotional concerns. Most IBD therapies are low-risk during pregnancy and breastfeeding, while active disease remains the greatest risk. This article empowers women with the knowledge to make informed, confident choices about family planning.
